Hi! It’s us!
Meet your Heirloom Arts Staff.
Mae (they/them) graduated from Western Michigan University both in 2017 and 2019 with a B.F.A. in Costume Design and an M.A. in Public History. After spending time in both the professional theatre and museum fields, Mae became co-owner of Heirloom in 2021, and took over full ownership in December of 2022. In October of 2023, Mae completed the apprenticeship program and loves to tattoo florals, bugs, and traditional style tattoos. Mae loves the community of Heirloom, and is so grateful for every member of the family.
Stephany (she/her) lives in the Vine Neighborhood with her husband, Tommy, and their dog, Taco. She has been a working artist & graphic designer for ten years, has tattooed for three years. She loves putting her own twist on traditional style tattooing and using bold, bright colors. She completed her apprenticeship with Heirloom in October of 2021.
Lacey (she/her) graduated with a degree in Illustration in 2017. Her favorite expressions in art are through painting and pencil drawing, with a heavy focus on nature and animal portraiture with vibrant colors. Lacey toiled in teaching arts and studio management before deciding to change pace. She lives happily in Kalamazoo with her three cats and human man.
Katie (he/they) has been causing problems and making art their whole life. They focus on drawing, painting, and sewing, with a heavy interest in portraits and scenes from daily life. They currently study French at Western Michigan University, and started their apprenticeship with Heirloom in May of 2021 and became a full time artist in February 2022.
K8 (she/they) has been doodling for as long as they can remember. They graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s in French during the early days of the pandemic. While working in the service industry during the pandemic, they felt drained, burnt out, and without direction. In 2021, they opened their art business, Rabbit Soup, and came to Heirloom in 2022 as an artist looking for a space for their studio. They finished their apprenticeship in April 2024. In their free time, they enjoy gaming, lifting, and spending time with their dogs Korra and Sirius.
Adelaide (little/lady) is a very cool, not at all haunted caiman who lives in the shop. She enjoys sweets, ethical dilemmas, the color yellow, and being a jump scare for clients who don’t like taxidermy. Adelaide has a small mouse friend, Pierre, and likes to hang out among the plants in the front of the shop. Make sure you say hello!
